Season 18 Pattern
The following pattern starts at the bottom left and ends on the bottom
right. The numbers given here are the ROW AMOUNTS, not the ribs seen in the finished product, as previously.
See an explanation
of this here. The very thin stripes shown
here are all 2 Rows each.
- Tassels: The tassels should consist of the orange and
burgundy colors only. (no purple) They should be placed very close
together and should be about 4 inches long.
- Needles: This scarf should be knitted with US 5-7
needles, depending on the yarn you choose.
- Width: The scarf should be 10-12 inches wide. (40-60 stitches, depending on the yarn)
- Length: The scarf when unstretched should touch the
ground on both sides and make a waist-length loop. When stretched
(with blocking) it should make an almost ground-length loop.
- Edge: When you hit the 4 small "overlapping" stripes, instead of cutting the yarn after each small stripe,
you should just put the yarn down and begin knitting with the
next color, then just keep switching them until that two-color
section is finished. Like this:
If you'll notice on Tom's scarf there is a thin orange border
on one side. I believe this was a crocheted border. (This can
be done very easily after the scarf is finished.)
Pattern
A text-based / printer-friendly version
of this pattern is here. (Thanks
to Ken!)
