The Season 15 Scarf

In the Image of the Fendahl a brand new scarf was introduced that was very different in appearance to the original. It was longer, wider and although the pattern was loosely based on the original, the colors were very different. The red, beige and brown were similar to the original but the green and yellow were darker while the gray and purple were lighter. Tom also wore the scarf differently, sometimes making a big loop around his neck while other times opting to just throw the ends over each shoulder. For one reason or another this scarf was short-lived, only appearing in Image of the Fendahl, Underworld and the Invasion of Time, although it was worn by Tom later on for appearances and promo shots.

How to create the Season 15 scarf

This scarf is knitted in the same way as the original, with the main differences being the yarn colors and the pattern. This scarf looks more authentic if it is NOT stretched, unlike the original.

* These patterns all begin at the bottom left and end at the bottom right, joining at the top. (or vice-versa) A text-based version of this pattern is here.

The colors for this scarf are easier to find than that of the original, as they are a little more "common." I have only knitted one of these and that was many years ago, so unfortunately I cannot provide reliable color choices at the moment. Just use the pattern to the left or the photos I've provided to match the other colors.

Specifications:

  • Needles: This scarf should be knitted with US#5 to US#7 needles.
  • Stitch: Garter stitch. Slip the last stitch as if to knit.
  • Width: The scarf should be 12-14 inches wide. The number of stitches to achieve this length can vary and depends on the thickness of the yarn and the size of the needles.
  • Length: On Tom Baker, this scarf touched the ground on both sides while making a waste-sized loop. (about 16 feet)
  • Tassels: The tassels should consist of all seven colors. They should be spaced about an inch apart.
